Chemical Health Risk Assessment ( CHRA )

An assessment shall be carry out for those employees that use, handling, storage or transportation of hazardous chemical to health in their workplace. The purposes of the assessment is to enable employer to make decisions on the appropriate control measures to be taken, induction and training of employees, the necessities of exposure monitoring and medical surveillance program as may be required to protect the health of workers who may be exposed to chemicals hazardous to health at work.

Chemical Exposure Monitoring ( CEM )

Chemical Exposure Monitoring is used to measure the level of exposure of workers to chemicals hazardous to health (CHTH) and to evaluate adequacy of existing control equipment. It shall be carry out if indicates in the Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA) or it is requisite for ensuring the maintenance of adequate control of the exposure of employees to chemicals hazardous to health (CHTH).

Inspection, Testing & Examination of Engineering Control Equipment

Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system and general exhaust ventilation system are types of engineering control equipment that commonly used in workplace to control exposure to chemicals hazardous to health. It shall be examined and tested for its effectiveness and efficiency at each interval being no longer than twelve months by DOSH registered hygiene technician.

HIRARC become fundamental to the practice of planning, management and the operation of a business as a basic of risk management. It is one of the general duties of the employer to provide safe workplaces to their employees and other related person.
